Como regalo navideño llegó “Get Back”, una breve serie documental sobre The Beatles, de los grupos más influyentes en la historia musical, disponible en Disney plus.
Peter Jackson, director de la serie “El Señor de los Anillos” y “Hobbit” se tomó la tarea de depurar 55 horas de grabación de 140 horas de audio original, en tres capítulos de más de dos horas de las grabaciones en la época de la producción de canciones del álbum “Let it be”.
Se supone que harían grabaciones para un programa de televisión, pero que culminaría en la azota del edificio de grabación de Apple, la compañía con la manzana original del grupo.
Si no conoce o es fan de los músicos británicos le parecerá algo cansado las sesiones, pero si es fan de ellos, verá que es un documental muy valioso con la oportunidad de “revivirlos” a finales de los años 60s.
Le sorprenderá la facilidad de composición del guitarrista John Lennon con “Don´t let me Down”, que al principio suena desastrosa, pero que poco a poco se va puliendo hasta su versión final.
Paul McCartney, bajista, les lleva varias canciones, tiene mucha producción musical, pero destaca “Get Back”, un tema con algo de crítica al trato de los migrantes en Londres.
Vemos a George Harrison, requinto, como incomprendido con sus letras como “I me mine”, que sirve para que Lennon y Joko Ono bailen un poco de vals. De hecho él abandona las grabaciones porque no le gustó que Ono se subiera a una bocina. Tuvieron que improvisar sus ensayos siguientes, pero finalmente sus compañeros fueron a rogarle que regresara.
Ringo Starr también hace sus pininos mostrando “Octopus´s Garden”, de su inspiración y que Harrison le ayudó a completar la melodía en piano.
Billy Preston, invitado por George, tuvo un papel primordial en los teclados durante las grabaciones. Él tocaba con Little Richard en Hamburgo, fue cuando conoció a The Beatles en sus inicios, lo hacía con tal alegría y entusiasmo, con algo de “blues”. Sus manos recorrían el teclado como magia, un sonido que se acopló a la perfección con los experimentados Beatles.
“Oh Darling!”, “I Got a Feeling” y “Don’t Let me Down” son algunas en las que participó, esta última canción se aprecia su evolución con los gritos de Lennon, hasta que le sale al final a la perfección. Las tres partes de “Get Back” están disponibles por Disney plus y cada una dura más de dos horas.
Era tan importante la música de Preston que Lennon reconoció “estamos perdidos sin Billy”. El mismo Harrison sugirió que debería pagársele, pero también sugirió incluir a Bob Dylan: “al fin de cuentas somos el Club de los Corazones Solitarios”, dijo.

As a pre-Christmas gift came “Get Back”, a short documentary series about The Beatles, one of the most influential groups in musical history.
Peter Jackson, director of the Films “The Lord of the Rings”, and “Hobbit” took the task of debugging 55 hours of recording from 140 hours of original audio, in three chapters of more than two hours of the recordings at the time of the production of songs from the album “Let it be”.
They were supposed to make recordings for a television show, but that would culminate in the whipping of Apple’s recording building, the company with the group’s original apple.
If you do not know or are a fan of British musicians you will find the sessions a bit tired, but if you are a fan of them, you will see that it is a very valuable documentary with the opportunity to “relive” them in the late 60s.

Preston’s music was so important that Lennon acknowledged “we’re lost without Billy”. Harrison himself suggested that he should get paid, but he also suggested including Bob Dylan: “At the end of the day we are the Lonely Hearts Club”, he said.
