La infertilidad es una preocupación de salud mundial, cerca de 48 millones de parejas y 186 millones de personas pasan por un proceso de infertilidad.
Este problema no solo afecta a las mujeres, sino también a los hombres, es una enfermedad del sistema reproductivo masculino y femenino.
De acuerdo a la OMS, consiste en la imposibilidad de conseguir un embarazo después de 12 meses o más de relaciones sexuales habituales sin protección.
La infertilidad masculina es una condición que afecta el sistema reproductivo del hombre y disminuye o impide la posibilidad de fecundación.
En el caso de la femenina ocurre cuando un óvulo fecundado o el embrión no sobrevive una vez que se fija al revestimiento de la matriz (útero).
Hay que tener claro que la infertilidad y la esterilidad son diferentes.
La Infertilidad se denomina la incapacidad de la pareja para conseguir finalizar la gestación de forma satisfactoria.
Esterilidad se refiere a la incapacidad de la pareja para conseguir un embarazo tras un año de exposición regular al coito y sin uso de anticonceptivos.
En la vida cotidiana de la mujer, ser estéril tiene sus repercusiones, como un mayor riesgo de violencia, divorcio, la estigmatización social, estrés emocional, depresión, ansiedad y hasta la baja autoestima.

Infertility is a global health concern, about 48 million couples and 186 million people go through an infertility process.
This problem affects not only women but also men, it is a disease of the male and female reproductive system.
According to the WHO, it consists of the impossibility of achieving a pregnancy after 12 months or more of regular unprotected sexual intercourse.
Male infertility is a condition that affects the male reproductive system and decreases or prevents the possibility of fertilization.
In the female case, it occurs when a fertilized egg or embryo does not survive once it attaches to the lining of the womb (uterus).
It must be clear that infertility and sterility are different.
Infertility is called the inability of the couple to finish the pregnancy satisfactorily.
Sterility refers to the inability of the couple to achieve a pregnancy after one year of regular exposure to coitus and without the use of contraceptives.
In a woman’s daily life, being sterile has repercussions for her, such as the increased risk of violence, divorce, social stigma, emotional stress, depression, anxiety, and even low self-esteem.
